Smart city: realities and future of Ukraine

L. Gurch Т. Dolinska

Abstract

The article provides a review of the theoretical and practical aspects of the implementation of sustainable mobility for Ukrainian cities to achieve the status of a «smart» city, as well as effective recommendations for the rapid growth of the Ukrainian economy, due to the implementation of all components of the concept of sustainable mobility in the period of post-war development. The Russian invasion of the territory of Ukraine significantly slows down the process of the development of digital technologies and the development of cities. From June 23, 2022, Ukraine is a candidate for membership in the EU, in which digitization is one of the component requirements, it is necessary to make maximum efforts for this right now. In the period of post-war development, Ukraine needs to move in the direction of sustainable mobility and the European «green» course. The EU sustainable and smart mobility strategy ensures the achievement of the goals of the European Green Deal in the transport and mobility sector, which is necessary for Ukraine, as it has become a candidate for EU membership. Ukrainian cities need to develop taking into account foreign experience and drawing knowledge from them. After analyzing the main principles and characteristics of the «smart city» on the basis of foreign examples of the use of the strategy of sustainable mobility and «green» economy, recommendations for the post-war development of Ukrainian cities were proposed.
