Anti-plagiarism Policy

"The National Transport University Bulletin" of Ukraine accepts for consideration and publication only original research manuscripts – materials that have not been previously published and have not been submitted to other journals or publications.

The journal uses iThenticate  software to check and detect text borrowing in submitted manuscripts. The percentage of plagiarism is calculated using software that checks documents for borrowings both in a local database and on the Internet. The resulting report is analysed by the editorial board.

The editorial board regards plagiarism in scientific publications as a serious breach of ethical standards, contrary to the principles outlined in the section Publication Ethics. All identified cases of plagiarism are carefully examined, and the editorial office reserves the right to reject a manuscript before peer review if academic integrity standards are violated.

Criteria for assessing originality

Submitted manuscripts are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • more than 85% originality – the manuscript is accepted for further consideration;
  • between 75% and 85% originality – the author must verify correct citation and referencing of sources;
  • less than 75% originality – the manuscript will not be considered.

In addition, similarity of more than 3% from a single source is not permitted.

The similarity percentage is determined by specialised software that checks documents against both local databases and open Internet sources. The final decision is made by the editorial board following a detailed analysis of the report.

Detection of plagiarism after publication

If text similarity or plagiarism is detected after publication, the editorial board conducts an additional investigation. The author will be informed of the situation. If a violation of publication ethics is confirmed, the article may be retracted in line with the Corrections and Retractions.
