Peculiarities of the implementation of the cohesion policy of the European Union in the context of the implementation of the strategy of sustainable economic development

Abstract

The article examines the peculiarities of implementation of the European Union cohesion policy in the context of implementation of the sustainable economic development strategy; systematizes the directions of implementation of the European Union cohesion policy; clarifies the importance of the European Investment Bank in the implementation of the EU cohesion policy; and explores the directions of development of European territorial cooperation as an important goal of the cohesion policy. Object of research – European Union cohesion policy. Purpose of study – improving the effectiveness of the European Union's cohesion policy in the context of implementing a sustainable economic development strategy. Methods of research – abstraction, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, systematic approach. 78 EU cohesion policy helps each region to reach its full potential and the European Union as a whole to improve living standards and overall well-being. The EU's cohesion policy also helps to ensure that there are no economic gaps between countries and different regions within the same country, and supports key EU goals such as the green and digital transition. To promote overall harmonious development, the European Union is strengthening its economic, social and territorial cohesion. The European Union dedicates a significant part of its activities and budget to reducing disparities between regions, especially in rural areas, areas affected by industrial transition, and regions suffering from serious and persistent natural or demographic disadvantages. The EU supports the achievement of these goals through the use of European structural and investment funds. Forecast assumptions about the object of study – improving the mechanism for implementing the EU cohesion policy in the context of implementing the sustainable economic development strategy
