The European green course in the context of sustainable development of the transport sector of Ukraine

Abstract

The paper provides an overview of the current state of sustainable and smart mobility in the context of the implementation of the European Green Deal (EGD). The paper assesses the transport sector of Ukraine both in general and in the context of individual modes of transport; analyzes the state of urban mobility on the way to the EGD implementation, as well as the consequences of the war's impact on this area. The object of analysis is the transport sector of Ukraine. The purpose of the study is to assess the challenges and analyze the current situation of the research object. The implementation of the European Green Deal goals is considered through the key thematic areas identified by the European Commission, namely sustainable, smart and resilient mobility. The paper identifies the steps taken for sustainable mobility development in the context of alignment with the EGD goals, and formulates the challenges that require efforts in legislative reform and policy transformation towards cleaner, more efficient and technologically advanced transport systems
